The most precious inheritance

Sometimes, when I get all heavy and philosophical thinking: “what is the point of it all…” Just before concluding that there is no meaning, and no purpose, I remember my grandparents, whom I loved deeply and who left their mark on every one of their twelve grandchildren.

Spending independence day with my parents and their friends, traveling back in time to my childhood, to be reminded of a beautiful meaningful group of people I was surrounded by growing up,  sharpened the understanding what is left behind, what it is all for. If I knew I left some meaningful moments in my children’s lives – then I’m good.

In the words of Thich nhat hanh “The most precious inheritance that parents can give their children is their own happiness. Our parents may be able to leave us money, houses, and land, but they may not be happy people. If we have happy parents, we have received the richest inheritance of all.”
