iPad and coffee

coffee break #31 – iPad reading, love and hate

I had been searching for a very long time for the book “The Poetics of Space” (which is amazing but is not the issue here). The only version I could find at that time was a PDF file, so I had no choice but start reading it on my iPad.

I must say, it has its advantages: “A whole world at my palm,” as the brochures promise…. and it weighs nothing at all. Within it are a few books and magazines, and they all come with me wherever I go.
I can mark stuff as I like, write notes, not to mention the beautiful search option in the document, as well as the external one for references from the web, and a convenient translation option, which I very much need for reading this book. but…

I feel that something has gone amiss. The iPad touch feels cold in my hands, there is no sound of  flipping pages… no smell… no wrinkles on the pages, no marks left by previous readers, or signs of the coffee I had as I was reading…
